The Tax Incentives Assistance Project (TIAP)

The Tax Incentives Assistance Project (TIAP), sponsored by a coalition of public interest nonprofit groups, government agencies, and other organizations in the energy efficiency field, is designed to give consumers and businesses information they need to make use of the federal income tax incentives for energy efficient products and technologies passed by Congress as part of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and subsequently amended several times.

Upper Salford Township Board of Supervisors Meeting

At the Upper Salford Township Board of Supervisors meeting last night (4/14/2010), the Double Steel Salford Station Road bridge was discussed. Mr. Chris Stanford, Project Engineer of Michael Baker Jr. Inc. and Tom Nevinger of Penndot presented plans for the replacement of these two bridges. I have attached to this email the Project Information Sheet and a Comment Form that they had available for our review.

It was bought up by Ted Poatsy that the bridge must have a walkway since this bridge is used for access to the trail. It was also mentioned that this bridge is used for horses and biking. The Engineers said they would look at these issues. The bridge is to have a 2 ft wide shoulder on each side but it is felt that this is not enough for safe passage, especially when traffic is on the bridge.

The project is 1/2 way through final design. Bids are due by the end of the year. Construction will begin in early 2011 with a 1 to 2 year completion.

It was also discussed about where the equipment for this project would be stored. The Engineers said that most of the equipment would be stored on the bridges. There will be some minimal right of way imposed. Please contact Penndot or the township if you have further questions about this item.

It is suggested to please download the comment form and express your concerns about the design of this plan. If you support the bridge to have a sidewalk or bike type lane, please state this on the form. It would also be beneficial to ask for this project to be completed in a timely manner since there has been an impact on many residents. If you have trouble downloading the attachments, you can also download the comment form from the uppersalfordtownship.org website. The Project Information sheet will also be on the township website. The Engineers also left a drawing as to where the bridge will be.

Don't forget to send in your comments to Penndot. The address is on the form.

ACT 537 PLAN

Hi All,

I received a letter from a group of concerned citizens about the ACT 537 plan. Just in case you did not receive it, it is attached below. There are details in this letter about the group and what they hope to accomplish. I asked for permission from them to post this letter and another letter from a member of the group which questions the ACT 537 Plan. I have permission to post this letter as well. I was asked to please not edit these letters in anyway. Please use these letters to review and inform your neighbors.

Remember that this plan will effect all residents in some way.

Regards,

JoAnn

ACT 537

We would like to thank all the people who took the time to attend the Township meeting on February 25. There is no doubt your questions had an effect. It is clear that the Supervisors, Planning Commission and Engineer will re-evaluate the data, conclusions and options.

Now the real work starts. The joint Supervisors/Planning Commission meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month. It is our responsibility to attend these meetings and hear how the evaluation unfolds. The Board and the Planning Commission allow public comment and questions as part of these meetings.

Your efforts have helped us to establish a solid base which facilitates quick communication of significant events. We will continue to alert you to important points of interest as the revised plan progresses.

In the meantime, we hope to see many of you at the meetings and providing your input on this very important issue.

Thank You!
